3D Printed Interdigitated Capacitor Based Tilt Sensor

This paper presents a tilt sensor comprising of 3D printed capacitive sensors located at the four ends ‘+’ shaped channel to provide orientation objects by using fluid level measurement concept. The interdigitated were developed printing and was filled with ecoflex silicone oil obtain two variants sensor. results show change in capacitance ~11.5% ~9.53% for oil-based respectively. A drift ~2.6% is observed ~0.16% oil. Considering lower viscosity drift, further investigated varying volumes (1 ml 1.5 ) fabricated compared angles ranging from 0° 30°. result all sensing structure similar rate (~0.67% per degree increase angle) standard deviation ~±0.1%. However, higher volume (1.5 saturated angle ~20° which ~10° smaller than response 1 (saturated 30°). We also demonstrate possibility extending range optimizing channel’s capacity. With integration robots’ body, white cane or smart etc., it will be possible information about orientation.
